New Project

# Hey! Right now I'm following along with 3dbuzz modular rigging system tut and I'm learning tons of great stuff!  The best thing with the tutorial is that I'll always have access to it, so I can go back and watch it again when ever I feel I need to remind myself of something. ( or when the time comes for me to build my very own rigging system) But the tutorials content is over 50hours,over 200 individual videos!
I'we been following a long for three days now and I'm at video 30, so I was thinking if I could split my days up in two, like before lunch I continue learning python and work on the modular rigging system and after lunch I work on my own project. (Just for the purpose of not getting bored by it being to monotone, not with standing that programming for almost 8 hour a day makes my head go nuts and when I go to bed I thinking of different solutions to solve problems or about some error I didn't fix and so forth..)

So what should my new project be about?
I want to dig even deeper in to rigging and building tools, maybe in the end have something that I can practice my animations skills with.

So my plan is to create a character from scratch (concept and all)
Give the character some awesome topology that will work great for rigging and animation.

[To Do list]
* Create sweetlooking imageplanes and some concept of the face
(in the end I'll also need an expression sheet)
* I'll read through the book 'stop staring'
* I'll go through some zbrush or mudbox tutorials at DT:
(I have some experience already, but I want everything to be as good as possible)
*I'll watch some tutorials about facerigging, curvebased/jointbased

When I'm done with my character I'll use him as a labrat and try out different rigging solutions.
I'll use a python script I found on the web to test the speed of the different rigging solutions.
I'm also thinking of scripting some tools to save poses and things like that. :)

This will be a big project that never have to end! So lets go!  :)

Trying to keep it as clean as I can. :)

Not sure if im to happy with the result

C#/C++/Python

Been doing a lot of programming lately. From having no experience at all, I know have a pretty good understanding about the compiler, classes, inheritance, types and so forth.
Have been programming and watching tutorials for like a month and I just started out programming with Python. Made some scripts for Maya and Nuke (Nothing complicated and I think the code is awful but anyway it's fun to just try things) :)
My goal is to follow 3dbuzz course and write a modular rigging system.

Created my own bulk-renamer

Here is some code I have been scripting:

Childroom 2013

Edit: Final Room

Okey changed plans, my teacher thought I was going "to much animation" when the course is about rendering and modeling. So I had to change focus. What I did was starting all over.

So this is Felicia's childroom.
Her parents died in an accident and now she lives with her grandparents.
Her grandpa Harold is an inventor.

Here is one of his inventions. This spider will be animated ( a bit )
The mechanics is driven by expressions, the speed of the mechanics can be controlled by an attribute in one of the main controllers.

This is a school project I'm working on, the goal of the project is to create a childroom and render it with maya software. Im thinking cool toys and action! vivala toystory

Hero:

I created an action figure for my room. He (or she?)  is rigged and ready to play with!

Played around with my rig, created a pretty lame runcycle.
Will be doing much more serious animations later. :)

Toys toys toys. two weeks before project starts. :)

Badteddy-bot:

Some planing.
I want the hand to be able to transform in to different weapons.

I want the upper arm to be stretchy.
and I also want the helm to be able to close and open.

Made a quick concept. :)

The rig is done  and I'm ready to start block out my animations :)

Animation Exercises

Here I'll post all my animation Exercises. I'we also been thinking of creating a post for all my drawing- and anatomy exercises. maybe later :)
I'll try to do most of the things on this list !
Have done some basics like pendulum, different ball weights and so on.

Run and jump

CG Cartoon Character

In this project I'll create a character and make an advanced cartoonish rig for him.
Im also thinking of making a short in the future, and it would be really nice if this character could be a part of it.

Some rough sketches.
Have been following along one of dt's rigging tutorial for like two weeks..
Right now I don't have so much time to work on this project because of school , even though I get off my bed at 7pm every morning so i get like 3 more hours to spend on this project. (How getting up from bed and stay sharp is possible I think heavily depends on my Magic Morning Formula which is coffe and porridge.. Someone once told me that the ancient gladiators ate porridge all the time and that was why Spartacus, Russle Crowe and all the other gladiators where so fit.
I bet the guys in 300 also loved thier porridge) ....However school isn't all bad, the math and the course about "how computer graphics works" is awesome and has really increased my understanding of the rendering pipeline and all the 3d applications..

Here is my rig,  the mesh is provided by digital-tutors, (will do some more rigging before I start with my own character). The rig got an IK/FK armSwitch and lot of other fancy stuff!
I have also been doing some mel scripting. Like a renaming tool, place joints on vertex tool and some scripts that creates different curve shapes.

Okey.. I'm done skinning my character. The rig is complete!:)

one of my other rigs:

I made the concept, the model and the rig.

Transformer vfx

Some earlier animation tests.

The rigging is done.
Nothing complicated as Im still a beginner.
(Will however push my rigging skills in my next project!)
Now it's time to animate! (Stoked!)

The spider model. next I'll make a proxy and rig it.
(I just swaped my curves from stepped to spline, thats why the wierd animations.
But it's just for previs. )
(Made some quick thumbnails and then i picked the sillhoutte that I liked and made a quick concept.)
